In the midst of the National Gendarmerie’s repression of the Mapuche people’s protest, who are reclaiming their land from the tycoon Luciano Benetton, a 28-year-old young man, Santiago Maldonado, disappears. In the country of the 30,000 missing, his family starts a search that soon mobilises the entire society in a common demand: where is he? Who took him away? While the authorities refuse to investigate and the media blame the victim, the claim is echoed internationally. 78 days later, Santiago’s body is found on the banks of the Chubut river, very close to where he was last seen. What happened to Santiago on 1 August? Who are those responsible for his disappearance? Where has he been for almost three months? These questions remain unanswered in a case that still demands truth and justice.
